Siemens Energy Distribution Transformers Kft. manufactures transformers at its Csepel facility. Our company is already known to them as a supplier, but this was our first large-scale assignment in which the team was given the opportunity to prove their capabilities.
The task was to develop eight core loading systems, focusing on expanding the safety functions of the existing equipment and defining operational boundary conditions. During the project, the units only began tilting or rotating once the load was secured and correctly positioned, with the process monitored by wireless sensors.
Project Goals and Challenges
The main challenge was to upgrade the existing equipment without compromising its original functions or legal regulations. As our first large-scale project, we placed unprecedented emphasis on smooth execution and coordinated teamwork.
Development Process
We appointed a project manager to coordinate activities on-site and maintain contact throughout the project with both the client’s representatives and our team. Milestones were set: from preparation to test runs, every step was carefully planned. Mechanical and control engineering tasks were carried out in parallel and coordinated to meet the deadlines.
Throughout the project, the team demonstrated its ability to develop a complex, safety-critical device on time and to the expected quality standards.
Result
The upgraded core loading equipments now operate safely and automatically, with loads only moving when properly secured. Their operation is more reliable, and the production process is safer.
The client was satisfied with the result and has since commissioned us for further project tasks.
Experience and Lessons Learned
The key lesson learned during the project was the coordination of sensor technology with operational procedures, and the parallel, scheduled execution of mechanical and control engineering tasks.
In the short term, the project required intensive design resources, but in the long term, it increased our team’s expertise and confidence, and led to further client orders.
